You can download a licensing FAQ document here.
| What is a Site Licence
? A site licence allows any registered user to install the software to a network or as many standalone PC's as required subject to registering the software with us. The licence DOES NOT cover multiple sites.
| Can we use the software on a
network ? Yes, with a variety of network operating systems, Novell, NT, 2000 etc
| Can we put the software on more
than one standalone PC ? Yes - as many standalone PC's as required subject to registering the software with us. The licence DOES NOT cover multiple sites.
| Can we copy the CD
ROM ? No. There is no need to copy the CD ROM. There are strict licensing restrictions, as well as built in software protection against copying.
| Does the software need the CD ROM
in the CD ROM drive at run time ? No - the software is designed to be fully installed to the target PC.
| Are the contents copyright ? Yes, they can however be used freely by students and staff alike, for USE IN THE CENTRE. None of the resources may be modified and resold in any form.
| How can we use the material ? For portfolio building, induction exercises, class notes, handouts, OHP's etc etc
| Can we write our own packages,
using some of your material and sell this to other centres ? No.
| We have a link with a local school,
can they also install the software in school ? No. However, we will look favourably on these arrangements and offer competitive licences to schools etc. Remember our business is solely involved in the development and sale of software. The licence is also a 'one off' rather than an annual cost.
| Is the price a one off charge or is
the cost annual ? The price is for a one off charge, there are no annual costs.
| What do we have to do to register
our licence ? You have to make one call to Dale Software. The software will give you a software key, phone this through and we will return your centre's access code.
| Do we have to phone you every time
we install the software to register ? No. We will give you the necessary licensing instructions when you call.
| When you say L2 or
equivalent what happens if the current scheme changes ? We now produce software that is generic, and should be adaptable to any scheme.
| Can we use the software on the
college Intranet ? You can use the software on a college intranet, in the same way that you can use it on a network under the terms of your licence.
| Can we make the software available
on the Internet ? No.
| Licenses - are they likely to
change in the future ? Yes, we have to adapt with the changes in FE etc. We will be changing to a per PC licensing system, based on bands of use. For example, single PC, 1-10 PC's, Network etc. No date has been identified as yet for these changes.
| Can we sell the CD ROM to anyone
else ? No. You are licensed, and your details are linked to that license.
| Can we click on a button in the
software that allows our students just to access L2 or L3 material, for example ? No.
| Can we make OHP's with the images
and text from the software ? Yes - for use in your centre, and not for re-sale as your own package, or any other form of commercial use. |
